As we have watched the recent protests and riots taking place in our nation, the flawed ideology of a large majority of our youth has been exposed. Today the indoctrination of our youth has hindered common sense and the capacity to decipher right from wrong.
God given virtues have been replaced by foolishness, the absurd, irrational thinking, even idiocy. All the while they claim a high moral ground while rejecting God. Sounds like a lot of confusion to me. One thing for sure we know God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33a).
Yet we have seen this chaos disguised in the name of fairness. More specifically, rights for others, humanitarian issues, oppression, even love for your fellow human being. While all of these issues are valid in their own right, they are being misplaced. The youth that are protesting today may wake up someday and realize they have been robbed of their freedoms.
Much of this expressiveness is the direct result of indoctrination by public institutions (schools, college campuses). This is their clear intention. In addition, much of this indoctrination has taken place “under the radar.”
Then again, let’s not forget Hollywood. Or perhaps a better term,“Hollyweird” and the mainstream news media. Needless to say, both have been culpable in the indoctrination of our youth.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2a). Indoctrination to the world’s views is conformity to the world.
Today as we witness the unveiling of the young mindset we need to ask ourselves, how did we get to this point? The answer is obvious to many; indoctrination. In essence, conforming to an anti-Christian worldview point as opposed to a Biblical worldview.
To begin with indoctrination is described as a process of penetrating a person with ideas, attitudes, and/or beliefs. Indoctrination goes to the mind and heart of an individual.
Today most indoctrination takes place in public education at all levels. Sadly, many parents are unaware of this.
The question now becomes what is the difference between education and indoctrination?
First, genuine education enables students to know how to think. Likewise, government education is training students what to think instead of how to think. Back when I was growing up, this was not the case.
Next, real education produces well-rounded Americans who can think critically, process information, make good decisions, support themselves and serve the needs of society.
Today the sad fact is that so many of our youth are not being educated. In addition, they are leaving “institutions of higher learning” dumbed down rather than educated.
If your children attend a government school you’re automatically starting with a handicap if you plan to teach them the truths of the Bible. Furthermore, young minds are very impressionable and some school curriculums are promoting radical and dangerous ideas.
The method of indoctrinating youth certainly is not new. We can go as far back as the Old Testament to see this practice in place in the book of Daniel.
“And appointed that they should be educated three years, at the end which they were to enter the king’s service” (Daniel 1:5b).
Daniel and his friends were taken captive from Judah (604 B.C.) and carried off to Babylon to serve King Nebuchadnezzar. They were educated in the Babylonian culture and even their names were changed.
It is interesting to note all their Hebrew names reflected something of God. The names were replaced with names that favored idolatry. This was to encourage them to forget the God and traditions of their home and conform to the ways and gods of Babylon.
Daniel and his companions made the choice not to assimilate into the Babylonian culture. They knew the true God of the Bible and that was probably due to their upbringing.
To be clear, Satan wants control of your children. Indoctrination through public institutions and the other methods mentioned earlier is a means of doing it.
What can Christian parents do to prevent the indoctrination of their children through public education?
“Train up a child in the way he should go, even when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Prevention is the best antidote for the indoctrination of our children.
- Training up children in the way they should go means, first and foremost, directing them to the Savior (2Timothy 3:15).
- Use the scriptures daily as you train, teach and discipline your children (2Timothy 3:16).
- Prepare them to give an answer to everyone who asks them the reason for their hope (1 Peter 3:15).
- Prepare them to withstand the onslaught of cultures bent on indoctrinating young people with secular values (Romans 12:2).
- Place your children in private Christian schools or homeschool them. When it comes to institutions of higher learning, there are Christian or Bible colleges, and vocational schools. Also, online college is a great alternative (Proverbs 22:6).
Over the years the indoctrination of our youth has intensified and literally crossed the line in so many areas. However, this will probably continue. To be clear this is a spiritual battle for the hearts and minds of our youth.
Clearly, parents and citizens need to make themselves aware of the decline in our educational system. Although alternative forms of education can be challenging, they need to be highly sought out by Christians.

Thank you Aida for the reality and the severity of whats happening in today’s world.
The youth of today are not taught to think for themselves. They look at their peers or idols and follow like little puppies, just to fit in. Satan has certainly captured their minds. If asked what they are protesting/fighting for, most of them can not give a clear and precise answer. Satan has put in their minds that you need to look out for yourself, that you are entitled, that you can be what you want to be. This is not what God created us for. We are to tell the world about Him and His Son, not ourselves and our desires per Facebook, tweeter, etc. If it wasn’t for Christ standing in our place, no one would be standing. It is our responsibility to speak to our youth and remind them of God’s love for them and that as far as their identity in the world, God does not make mistakes. We all need to quit listening to the social media, news, gossips, and what man thinks and start listening to what God is/has been saying and have faith in Him as He is our creator and our purpose and our only Father.
What kids are seeing/hearing/believing today is temporal, but God and the future of believers is forever. Let’s not let one of us fall. Glory be to God!!

Thanks Aida for this timely article. The Word of God reminds us that the world system has been battling for the minds of God’s children through every generation. You mentioned the story of Daniel and his companions. I thank the Lord that they did not conform or bow down to the pressures and indoctrinations that were poured on them. Their parents were faithful to teach them to set their minds on the precepts / law / Word of God,and they did not depart from Him. Today Christian parents have an awesome responsibility to spiritually nourish the minds of their children (..daily bread…),so they will be rooted and instructed in the Lord(Col.2:7). Yes, as the above poster states,”NOW.”
God Bless.
